CCB Dress Code Uniform and Policies

CCB SCHOOL YEAR DRESS CODE:
During the school year Connecticut Concert Ballet has a professional dress code for all students that enables the teacher to best see and evaluate each student, creates a clean and uniform look for the class and helps to foster discipline in the student. Students must adhere to the dress code at all times (both in studio and on Zoom).

CCB UNIFORM SWAP SHOP:
Feel free to stop in the studio anytime during studio hours to drop off gently used uniform leotards that your children won’t be needing this year and/or pick up a leotard that your dancer needs for the current year.

CCB SUMMER DRESS CODE:
During the summer Connecticut Concert Ballet has a more relaxed dress code. Students have the choice of following the regular school year uniform dress code or they can wear any color leotard of their choice.

CCB DRESS CODE POLICIES

  • For the safety and etiquette of ballet class, students are only allowed to wear small earrings. Long/dangling earrings are not allowed.
  • All other jewelry (including necklaces, bracelets, rings and facial jewelry) is not allowed.
  • Leg warmers, warmup clothing, street clothing and other items are a distraction to both student and teacher and are not permitted in any class – tight-fitting ballet sweaters are allowed in winter months.
  • Leotards and tights should be worn without underwear underneath.
  • Female students must come to classes and rehearsals with hair up and neatly secured in a classical bun. If you need assistance with hair, please see a member of our staff. *If you have short hair that cannot be placed in a bun, hair must be neatly secured off the face with headband, clips, etc.
  • Students must wear shoes at all times when walking around the building (i.e., anything outside of the studio)
  • For the safety of all dancers, if eyeglasses are needed, please attach with a sports strap. Contacts are highly recommended for the more advanced dancer as an alternative to glasses.
  • Tights and leotards should be washed on a regular basis.
  • Tights should be footed; please do not wear cut-off tights.
  • All ballet slippers should have elastic straps sewn on securely across the ankles.

SOME OTHER HELPFUL TIPS:

-After you purchase new ballet shoes, put them on and tie a single knot in the drawstring so that the shoe fits comfortably around the top of the foot. Take off the shoe and tie a second and even third knot, cut the extra drawstrings off and tuck the ends inside the shoe. Do not tie the strings in a bow.

-CCB has a collection of used shoes. Feel free to drop off used shoes or find needed shoes at any time.

-Line drying dance clothes rather than using the clothes dryer will help them retain their elasticity and they will fit and last longer.

-Use a permanent marker to mark ALL dance clothing and shoes clearly with your dancer’s name
